little lady

Another mommy and me session.. I've said before how one of my favorite times in life was when i was able to be home with my first after she was born.  It's such a special time and flies by so quickly.  This little lady was great, learning to sit up on her own, and giving huge smiles and laughs for her mama.  You can tell these two share a special bond.  And don't overlook that beautiful nursery!  Ali is an interior designer and you can check out her page at Inspired By Designs.

Images shot on both digital and film using Portra 800.

Just like today

"If I had a day that I could give you, I'd give to you the day just like today.
If I had a song that I could sing for you, I'd sing a song to make you feel this way."  ~ John Denver

These sessions are my favorite, when everyone is laughing, being silly, and just having fun.  And my day is made when a family can look at their images some time later, and wish to have a day just like that one.   Because time has passed and maybe the little ones don't look *quite* as little as they did in those pictures, even though it really was just yesterday.  That's why it's so important to document these memories.  Contact me if you'd like to make some images of your own.   I had a blast photographing this family, as always!  xo

All images on film (but 3) using Portra 400. Ilford hp5 for black and whites.

cape cod

Our annual summer family vaca with our BFFs. This time we chose the (long) drive to Cape Cod.  Despite the shark sightings (!) the beaches were absolutely beautiful, and I could have spent all day in the cool ocean water.  The kids had a blast...  catching sea life, mini golf, outdoor karaoke, evening harbor dance lessons, visiting lighthouses, but they have the best time just being together.  A fun summer 2015.. here's to next year!

All pictures on film with a mix of stocks. Canon EOS3, and a Holga for fun :)

Sherrill + Seth

The surfers were out on Lincoln Blvd, the tide was high, and the sun was shining.  And Sherrill and Seth were ready to tie the knot. It couldn't have been a more perfect day or more perfect couple.  I was so honored to share in their wedding day, thank you Sherrill and Seth for having me capture these memories for you!

and a special thanks to my buddy Charles Eames for coming out to shoot with me, we had a blast!

Montauk on film

I knew i'd have my hands full on this vacation with a 6 week old, so I took a leap and left my  digital camera at home.   Took only a 35mm film camera and a few rolls of film.  I don't have hundreds of photos to show for the trip, instead i have a handful that i love.

This post has been another installment of the Film Mama monthly blog, so now head on over to Lauren Mitchell photography to see her post of the month!

New man in the house

Right from the start of our photo shoot, this little guy was calm and alert, looking straight at me. His mom and i agreed he is an old soul. :)  Big sis was such a cutie too, and who wouldn't love a princess room like that?  Congratulations to this beautiful family on the addition of this little man, he will be well-loved for sure!

Field of dreams and dress up

First, i headed out incognito...with my 8+ month pregnant belly, yankee hat and sunglasses, (no one noticed me at all) to take some shots at this little guy's T-ball game where dad was the coach, and mom wanted to give him the gift of photographs with his son. Then... back to their house for some play time with little sis.  They love their dress up and had so much together at this shoot, with lots of laughter and giggles.

film mama blog circle, vol 2

So my post for this month's Film Mama blog is a bit of a mixed bag... some tri-x, some portra 400, and some Fuji 400h.  I have to admit I'm having so much fun shooting film (and even more fun not sitting at the computer for hours on end culling and editing!)  I'm so glad I started this little project - i hope you enjoy this next installment!

Now head on over to see this month's post from photography by Jen Davis.  Enjoy!

party of 5

This session is near and dear to my heart, since it's not often that you get to photograph your best friend's baby, let alone her third baby!  What a lucky little man to have these two as parents and to be born with two big brothers!   Can't wait to see the special bond they share as they grow up.  I was so honored to be there to capture these special moments for them.  Love you guys. xoxo

little man in the park

The best sessions are the ones where the families are relaxed, in love with eachother, and HAPPY.  And this session definitely fit that bill.  I first photographed this adorable little boy when he was a guest at a friend's birthday party -- I was in love with his little face and scrunchy-nose-smiley-face (the same one my own son does!) from the start.

MTK

You'd never know it was October 4 here in New York given the weather this week... summer didn't want to say goodbye just yet so snuck back in for a few days. All this beautiful weather reminded me that it was barely over a month ago that we spent a gorgeous week out on the beach out in Montauk with our good friends. In honor of the weather this week, and the fact that I hate saying goodbye to the beach for the next 7 or so months... a Montauk post to bring us back to the beach!
